Description
Birch Stand explores the atmosphere and structure of a birch grove through layered textures, washes, and distressed surfaces that blur the boundary between representation and abstraction. The rhythmic verticality of the trunks emerges through overlapping marks, fine branchwork, and weathered textures, creating depth and a strong sense of place. Drawing from contemporary landscape abstraction and Tonalism, the work emphasizes atmosphere, memory, and natural pattern over strict realism. Through repetition, texture, and subtle shifts in value, Birch Stand captures the character of the woodland while inviting attention to the relationships between form, space, and surface.
