Description
This landscape was painted in oils on canvas. It studies light, nature’s beauty, and the fleeting wilderness. Thomas Cole roamed the Hudson River valley and the region around the Catskills of the Adirondack mountains. He sketched the terrain he encountered and then completed the pieces later in his studio, incorporating is own imagination. Cole inspired the generation of American landscape painters that became known as the Hudson River School.
