Animal Fresco consists of nine artworks featuring iconic western livestock alongside northern wildlife emerging gradually from fields of warm beige, taupe, cream, and earth-toned texture. Broad silhouettes, softened edges, and tonal brushwork allow each subject to blend into the surface, creating an effect reminiscent of fresco painting, where images appear embedded within the material itself. The contrast between recognizable animal forms and abstract texture gives the series depth while maintaining a restrained, monochromatic palette. The collection draws inspiration from both traditional fresco techniques and Tonalism, a style that emphasizes atmosphere and closely related colour values over strong contrast. The textured grounds and muted colours also echo the appearance of aged plaster walls and historic murals, where imagery develops through layers rather than sharp outlines.
