Description
Kahunas, a series of 4 captures the power and unpredictability of the ocean through photographs of surfers moving within breaking waves and shifting surf. Emphasizing both the figures and the sculptural forms of the water, the series explores scale, movement, and the relationship between people and the forces of the natural world. Drawing from the traditions of surf photography and coastal documentary imagery, the work focuses on carefully observed moments where light, spray, and wave formations converge. A softened, archival-inspired treatment lends a timeless quality to the images, balancing the energy of the surf with a sense of atmosphere and reflection.
