Created in collaboration with artist Steven Sabados, Resting on the Current is a series of two artworks available either as Framed Canvas, Gallery Wrap Canvas, or Under Glass in large, mid, or small. The series uses layered botanical collage techniques, combining pressed lotus leaves and natural plant materials to create organic compositions rich in texture and detail. Soft shades of sage green, stone, cream, and weathered grey give the artworks an earthy palette inspired by natural waterside environments. Small dragonfly and butterfly motifs are scattered throughout the compositions, adding delicate points of interest and reinforcing the connection to wetland habitats. The process relates to botanical collage and nature-based assemblage, techniques that have been used by artists and naturalists for centuries to preserve and celebrate plant forms. The visible textures and subtle variations in colour highlight the beauty of natural materials, while the careful arrangement of each element creates a contemporary decorative composition that feels both organic and thoughtfully designed.
