A series of 8 sketchbook watercolours dating from 1914. The charming rural and nature scenes are painted in the plein-air style. Plein-air, which means “in the open air”, involves a rapid application of paint in an improvisational style. The loose strokes of colour capture the fleeting moments of light and shadow in Nature.
